Why are there no children?

part 5 / 5

Eröffnung der Hermann-Gmeiner-Akademie in Innsbruck
In November 1981, the construction was finished and the SOS Children's Village Hermann Gmeiner Academy was legally established. In May 1982, the official opening of the Academy was celebrated.

The SOS Children's Village Hermann Gmeiner Academy takes an exceptional position in the SOS Children's Village environment. Local people often ask: "Why do I never see any children there?" The answer is very simple: Because we do not offer child care! – At least not directly.

The SOS Children's Village Hermann Gmeiner Academy was originally conceived as an "intellectual home" for the training and further training of SOS Children's Village employees from all over the world. For over two decades, the Academy has not only engaged in quality assurance and quality development issues but also in the development of the SOS Children's Village idea. Recently, these areas were added to the structure of SOS-Kinderdorf International, which is connected to the Academy through good and close cooperation.

Looking back at what has been said: even though you will not meet any children at the SOS Children's Village Hermann Gmeiner Academy, we do dedicate ourselves to the children that have been entrusted to SOS Children's Villages, as a seminar and training venue for SOS Children's Village employees from all over the world.
